Rays of Sunlight

This artwork is a pair of curious Stitchbird (Hihi) sitting in one of their favourite trees, the Karamu. The Maori bird name Hihi also translates to ‘ray of sun’, which is a nice reflection of the beautiful, bright yellow chest of the male bird. The reference photographs were taken by Hannah at Zealandia.
