As I learn more about the different rocks and techniques, my work is evolving and I enjoy the challenge that brings. I also enjoy travelling to different parts of the country, exploring the coastline, bushes and rivers to source the rocks I use. Sometimes the shape of the rock determines the final sculpture and other times I shape the rock to get the design I want.
I started hard stone sculpting in 2008 after working in the signs and graphics industry.
Having had a long interest in art and design, exhibiting and selling paintings in New Zealand and Australia, I found I enjoyed the process of working in the 3 dimensional form.
Working in all types of hard stone, my works contain a mix of realism and contemporary. Drawing inspiration from my love of nature, particularly birds, being a focus of many of my works. Also intrigued by the human form and spirituality as shown in my portrait work.
I work mainly to commission and have pieces in private collections
