From a very young age, art and particularly pattern has fascinated me.

Artist Biography

Growing up in South Africa my eyes were drawn to the beauty and patterns in the landscape around me.

I went on to study both graphic design and jewellery design/manufacture in Durban, S.A. and then eagerly left to explore the world, arriving in New Zealand in 2000.

Here, after a few years working for a jeweller in Auckland, I setup my own studio at the Corban Estate art centre.

In 2004 I moved north to the Tutukaka coast where I still live. I have a home studio, full to the brim with my hoardings and collections of materials from the last few decades, where I happily carve away and bring my creations to life.

For many years I have been inspired by the totems of the pacific northwest, which drew me to transition from working on a small scale with jewellery design to developing my own large  totem designs.. mainlyon timber, which I now like to think of as jewellery for giants!

I also run the Art Station gallery in Matapouri which opens duringthe Summer and is a busy and bustling little gallery showcasing mine and other local artists eclectic work.
