Sylvia Sinel emigrated to New Zealand from Sweden 2013 and settled  together with her kiwi husband and two sons on a small farm in the outskirts of Hamilton. She works full time in her studio creating sculpture and ceramic design. Sylvia also paints as much as time allows and teaches from her studio and at Waikato Society of potters.

Sylvia has found her affinity In the forever fascinating and inspiring world of clay and glazing. This form of art is the ultimate combination of all she cherishes: sculpture, painting, physics, chemistry & poetry. Sylvia gained a Diploma in Ceramic Art from Otago Polytechnic 2016 and graduated with a recognition of achievement. She was chosen as one of the finalists in Rick Rudd’s emerging practitioner in clay award 2018.

Sylvia Sinel’s interdisciplinary art practice spans over 30 years and her art is found in many private collections in Europe and Australasia.
