Bioluminescence

Great Barrier Island is a beautiful place with an embracing energy.  Suprisingly isolated given its close proximity to Auckland.  

It is officially designated a dark sky sanctuary and a haven for astrophotographers.  I run photography workshops there which is where I captured this image.

It was late in the season which is why the Milky Way is so low in the sky.  The centre of our galaxy clearly visible in the centre with the bright Sagittarius Star Cloud.

The bioluminescence was a complete but wonderful coincidence.  It came and went in less than 10 minutes and I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
