Pied Stilts are beautiful and graceful and very photogenic birds.  The fine delicate lines of legs and bill and the contrast of red legs against a monochrome body.  

I shot this at Miranda one of New Zealand's main reserves for migrating birds.  I saw it walking through the mangrove shoots and was drawn by contrast of lines and shapes between the bird and the plants.  I just needed to wait for the Stilt to walk into space and strike the appropriate pose…
